Vision- To teach the fundamentals of pitching in order to produce and perfect top quality pitchers that pitch technically sound and without the risk of pain or injury.
Curriculum- Mound science combines a number of techniques to offer pitchers the best quality instruction.
• Mechanics- We stress pitching technically correct in order to maximize each pitchers potential while reducing their opportunity for injury. We teach a range of pitches , cover both their grips and the correct way to throw each pitch.
• Pitchers mentality- We cover the mental aspect of pitching and how to mentally be an effective pitcher. Mound science believes that confidence is a key to successful pitching and stresses being a mentally strong, confident pitcher.
• Workouts- Always throw with a purpose. We teach our pitchers to always throw for a reason whether its just playing catch or throwing from the mound. We cover the most effective throwing workout program, used by a number of pro teams, to develop better pitchers with better pitches and control.
• Conditioning- Mound science is a firm believer in conditioning to improve a pitcher. We are not a believer in the weight room and bulking up. Using a conditioning program that we have pulled from a number of resources pitchers can increase power and velocity while not having to hit the weight room. We stress the importance of arm health, not arm strength, and the importance of conditioning the entire body for success; not just your arm.
Catching- We are now offering catching lessons. Mound Science realized that there is a lack of quality catchers in youth baseball, due to a lack of knowledgeable coaching. Our goal is to teach the proper fundamentals and the finer points of catching to aspiring catchers from little league to seasoned players at the college level. Our lessons will cover all aspects of catching including proper target and receiving, framing, blocking and proper pop technique for throwing runners out. We are very excited about teaching the art of catching and bringing excitement back to the position.
